Although most of the events we will talk about today will take place in the month of December, the Nutcracker Market deserves a shout out. Offering the chance to get your holiday shopping out of the way earlier, it features pop-up shops, special boutiques, arts, crafts, and all manner of unique treasures that will make it easy and fun to cross the names off your Christmas shopping list. The hard part, of course, will be trying not to fill your arms with gifts for yourself, as your family might be a little bit annoyed if there is nothing left to buy for you!
Sand Santa at Roberts Point Park, December 1 to January 3
Roberts Point Park is the site of many of our Christmas events and happenings, starting with the construction of the Sand Santa that never ceases to amaze. Created by some of the state’s top sand sculptors (yes, that is a thing) it offers the perfect backdrop to your annual Christmas card photo and will help build up the anticipation for the moment your kiddos can meet the real Santa Claus, something that will possibly happen more than once during your stay in Port A.
City Holiday in the Park, Roberts Point Park, December 7
Heading back to Roberts Point Park, it is time to explore another whimsical holiday celebration with out annual City Holiday in the Park. Offering a parade unlike any other you may have seen, a procession of golf carts decorated with colorful lights and other Christmas decorations, we have heard that Santa himself will be taking a break from his very busy schedule at the North Pole to drop in, pose for pictures, and take requests from all the boys and girls in Port Aransas who have made it on his nice list.
Nautical & Nice Drive-thru Holiday Light Display
For us, the quickest way to get in the holiday spirit is by viewing Christmas lights, and the Nautical & Nice Drive-thru Holiday Light Display, brings a smile to our faces and joy to our hearts. This nautical themed Christmas display brings attention to what life on the coast is like and as you drive through, oohing and ahhing over their charm and magic. If you tune your radio to station 87.9 FM, your drive and delightful views will be accompanied by holiday music.
Holiday Shop Around, December 13, Various Locations in Port Aransas
The Nutcracker Market, as wonderful as it is, opens a little early for most Christmas travelers to be able to attend, but that’s ok, as the Holiday Shop Around offers a second chance to cross those names off your list. Offering special deals at many of the Port Aransas shops, the gifts you purchase may cost less but will be appreciated as much as if you had spent full price!
Lighted Boat Parade & Holiday Drone Show, December 14, Port Aransas Fisherman’s Wharf
The golf cart parade as fun and whimsical, but the Lighted Boat Parade & Holiday Drone Show is pure magic! The procession of boats, each decorated with colorful lights reflected in the dark waters below while music performed by one of our favorite local bands, the Dunebillies, play them along. Santa Claus will be making a command performance, holiday beverages will be served, and when the final vessel has cruised on by, there’s more magic to behold, simply by turning your eyes to the sky. The Holiday Drone Show, the last event before Christmas, sets the sky alight with color and imagination!
